  • Mastering the Basics of Image Consultancy

    Course overview:

    A ten day intensive course covering the essential skills required by image consultants. As a result of its international recognition most courses have a number of international students. It is highly recommended that international students have a good grasp of the English language before enrolling.

    The course is complemented by a large amount of high quality and comprehensive take home materials. The course content is constantly being up-dated to ensure the highest level of benefit to students. Content last updated: 2007. For more detail see mod-ules below.

    All students are able to re-sit the course anywhere and as often as they wish so long as they remain a merchant with TAIC. Those that re-sit are only charged the cost of the food and beverages consumed. We highly recommend that students re-sit the course if at all possible within the first 12 months as this has been found to be highly beneficial.

    Courses are run at 3 to 4 star venues that offer accommodation to keep the course affordable. Other near by accommodation is recommended to suit student needs. Each day of the course is 9am to 5pm for courses with 6 or less students and 8.30am to 5.30pm for courses with 7-12 students.

    The fifth day of the course is a day off to rest a bit before tackling the remainder of the days.

    At the end of course students are required to complete a series of post course assignments to ensure they are confident and competent to work independently. Once the assignments are completed and the required marks are reached each student receives a beautifully designed full colour certificate of attainment.     Students are provided with ongoing support for a minimum of 12 months as well as world class image products and resources. After 12 months students will be given the option to continue as a merchant for $25 per month. To read what you get as a merchant press HERE

Course Timetable

Days 1 - 4: Style (Module 1)

Day 11:Make-up (Module 4) 

Full Training is over a ten day period. Modules 1,2 and 4 may be taken as stand alone courses. Module 3 may be taken as a stand alone course by TAIC merchants and is free to anyone when modules 1 and 2 are taken.

Personal Requirements:
No pre existing experience is required to attend the course. A love of people, a caring disposition and an entrepreneurial spirit is all that is required.

Hardware Requirements:
A computer and Internet connection is required before the course to receive your course enrolment confirmation. A computer, printer, Internet connection and phone is required after the course to access the merchant website and create personal style portfolios for clients, to order products and to download resources. Calls required regarding post course assignments are made by Ann to students.

Recommended for:
Individuals who wish to work as image consultants. To ensure comprehension it is highly recommended that this course is taken before commencing advanced corporate courses from other providers.

Module 1
Style and Image Development - Certified Module

Max 12 students per training session

This business opportunity is designed for anyone wishing to develop an expertise in style and image consulting and to apply/market that expertise with the aid of our 170 page Personal Style Solutions Portfolios. These portfolios are invaluable to both you and your client as they form the basis of your consultation and are a comprehensive and custom made reference guide that provides your clients with all the style information they will need in the future. In fact, we are the only company to provide our clients with such a complete, personal and up-to-date style guide.

The TAIC style program requires access to the internet. You will need at least a Pentium 400 PC (preferably a faster Pentium) computer with 32 meg of RAM, and a high quality printer.

There is an ongoing licence fee of $25 per month and the cost of buying Portfolio material for on-sale to clients. Please contact our office for detailed information about costs for Portfolio supplies.

Consultations with clients range from $125 mail-order service, $165 as a group appointment, or $185 for personal consultations (these are recommended retail prices).


Module 2
Flow Colour Analysis - Certified Module

Max 12 students per training session

At The Australian Image Company our objective is to give our clients practical and up-to-date information and high quality merchandise. With our colour consultation, each client receives a 40 colour laminated swatch and a personalised booklet explaining the colour consultation results. We use the 'Flow Colour' system for analysing clients as we believe it provides the most accurate determination of colour season and is a more user friendly system for the client.

Colour consultations take approximately 90mins and are charged at $165 (recommended retail price). During the consultation each client will discover their best colours, how to combine these colours for maximum impact, and how to wear colours that are outside their best range. They are also told about the options open to them regarding hair colour and contact lenses. In addition female clients learn about make-up by having it applied and the best application techniques explained.

Colour Training Materials

A professionally designed certificate of attainment will be awarded when required assignments have been completed and marked as correct. Also, your name will be placed on the TAIC worldwide consultant website listing when required assignments have been completed and marked as correct.

Please note: Participants are required to provide models over the second weekend to practice colour coding techniques. Interstate and overseas students are not required to provide models, but it would be appreciated if an effort was made if there are opportunities to involve local family, friends or acquaintances.


Module 3
Creating a Profitable Image Business - Certified Module

Max 12 students per training session

During this essential module you will discover the personal insights and methods needed to ensure you have a fun, profitable and sustainable long-term image business. This one-day module will ensure you leave the training sure of what you need to do to get your business off and running.

Make-up and Skin Care - Certified Module
(Only available in Australia)

Min 4, Max 12 students per training session

Make-up application skills and skin care know-how are invaluable tools that many image consultants use to show their clients immediate results and to substantially add to their bottom-line profit through the sale of make-up. The module is facilitated by Lois McBain.

It is optional, though advisable, to have a range of make-up at your disposal to complete a colour analysis session and increase your profit further. We use and recommend 'Adonia' make-up, which can be arranged through The Australian Image Company.

As our commitment to you and your success, we keep an up-to-date and comprehensive resource library for the use of all our consultants. Our library is constantly updated, as we regularly purchase many image books published from around the globe. To date we have over 2500 items.
