Answers from Ann to the
Most Asked Image Training Questions

1. Do you have international certification?

Yes, I am certified as a CIP (Certified Image Professional) by the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI) and have been for over 10 years.

2. Are you a recognised trainer?

Yes, I am. I am well known and respected as a trainer, image consultant and image product creator throughout the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI). I have been facilitating image consultant training courses for over 10 years and have run them in several countries.

3. Is TAIC's course internationally recognised?

Yes, TAIC is the largest image consulting company in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.

It is our great reputation that causes most TAIC courses to be attended by international students who have been sufficiently impressed with TAIC to fly great distances to train with us.

4. Is TAIC's 'Mastering the Basics of Image Consultancy' course certified?

Yes, the course is certified with Continuing Education Units (CEU's) by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and is recognised by AICI.

5. When did you start training image consultants?

In 1996, 10 years after entering the industry and 6 years working as a full-time professional image consultant.

6. Why did you start training image consultants?

After about 10 years working as a full time image consultant I saw the need to create up-to-date and more comprehensive image resources than were available at that time. A short time after I launched my materials they became known for their quality and down-to-earth, easy to understand information, then other image consultants requested to use them. Eventually members of the public started asking if I trained people to become image consultants, so after careful consideration and developing the necessary course material I launched my training programs.

This is a very telling question to ask any potential trainer. There are currently people all around the world who have very little experience who are promoting themselves as image trainers. The result is often a trail of very unhappy and frustrated students which reflects badly on those of us who care about quality and integrity.

7. How many training courses do you run each year?

As the CEO of The Australian Image Company and a dedicated innovator and creator of new image products I am constantly busy. Most years I manage about six courses in Australia and one or two internationally.

8. Will you ever run an extra course at someone's request?

From time to time courses are requested by students from various countries and locations that I have not considered. I am willing to run a course anywhere as long as it fits into my schedule and there are at least 4 students who wish to do modules 1 through 3. If a person finds 6 other students (excluding themselves) I will reward them by waiving their training fee.

9. How many students are in each course?

Anywhere from 3-12 but most courses have 10-12 students with often 2-4 international students. To ensure all students get the personal attention required an extra trainer is used during the hands-on sections of the colour module.

10. Do you have any student testimonials I can read?

Yes, I have many and they are located on my training page - PRESS HERE

11. How many students did you train in 2007?

56 students from 6 countries.

12. Is it possible to speak with recent trainees?

Yes and I highly recommend it. The only way to truly know what a trainer and a training course is like is to ask their past students. On request I provide the names and email addresses of all students from my last 3 courses. These addresses are given out with the students permission.

13. What training materials and take-home resources can I expect?

This is one of the aspects of TAIC's 'Mastering the Basics of Image Consultancy' course that thrills students. Each student receives enough training material and business resources to fill a small suitcase - easily enough to start their business following training. Please see my training page for photos of what you'll get - PRESS HERE

14. What post course assistance can I expect?

After the 'Mastering the Basics of Image Consultancy' I help each new consultant by setting post course assignments in both colour and style. These assignments are designed to weed out any misunderstandings or weak areas to ensure you become a competent and confident image practitioner. I also mentor students via email, Skype and phone call, and my friendly staff are also always ready to see what they can do to assist you.

In addition, all TAIC consultants receive a monthly newsletter to keep them up-to-date with what is going on in the world of image.

15. What products can I get from TAIC when I am finished my course?

As a dedicated training and resource company TAIC has all the products an image consultant needs to run their business, from colour swatches to our internationally acclaimed "Your Personal Style Solutions" style program, to image manuals and Image InSights public classes, and much more. The product range is full described in the email we send you after we recieve your training enquiry - PRESS HERE to make an enquiry. Each year on November 1st we have an annual renewal fee if you wish to stay a merchant with TAIC. At this time the fee is $250, this pays for the upkeep of the personal merchant website that each consultant gets, newsletters, mentoring and the development of new products.

16. Do I need any pre-course skills?

Yes, a desire to help others achieve their best, an entrepreneurial spirit and a willingness to work hard to make your image consultancy a successful one.

17. After the course what else do I need to budget for?

It is impossible to run an image business without stock (style portfolios, colour swatches, etc); you also need some office items like stationary, business cards and maybe a professional outfit or two. Usually $2,500 will cover these additional needs. In addition I strongly suggest joining The Association of Image Consultants International which at this time costs $250USD. Chapter meetings are currently held in Melbourne Sydney, Brisbane and many other international locations. Every May AICI holds a fantastic conference in one of the US states which is always worth attending.

18. Are there any people who are especially likely to be successful as image consultants?

I have found over the years that often the students who do best, in the shortest time, are those who have already been involved in a successful small business or have been successful in direct marketing (especially selling make-up). These individuals understand that it takes time, effort and perseverance to become successful.

19. Is there any age that is more suited to image consultancy?

Personally I think the late 20's is the earliest age for a person to become a image consultant, though I know of consultants who have started younger and have been successful. The optimum age is mid to late 30's through to the late 40's.

20. Lastly, is there anything you can think of that will swing my judgement in favour of TAIC training?

Yes, train with someone you know you can trust, someone who has the experience, credentials and reputation you need. I am 100% dedicated to my consultants and as a result I rarely see public clients anymore. Many trainers need to see clients to generate enough income to sustain their business. Because of the size and success of TAIC my consultants are my clients and this means I give them 100% of my knowledge and time.
That's why our motto is 'Your Potential is Our Passion'.
